Information As Art Letterforms, are essentially abstract images. Black and white shapes and space. Marks become letterforms, single letters together words. Words are assigned an agreed upon meaning. Meaning makes visual images, and this directs thought. Thoughts direct action. Actions that are personal, social, political and cultural. A series of actions, day by day make up a lifetime. The visible language of mark making, is common to all ages and peoples, symbols from various cultures are universally understood. Information can be designed to be either accessible or inaccessible, therefore graphic design is a political act. Communication happens whether the message is intended or not. This art form is both communicative and visual. Spring Hill Studio, LLC is a small progressive design studio located half way between Boston and New York, in the quiet northeastern corner of Connecticut, owned by artist, designer and design professor, Rebecca Moran.
